What is an acupuncture session like?
After entering your information on our intake form, your pulse will be assessed to determine the particular characteristics that will help us to determine which of the 2000 acupuncture points should be used for you.
The pulse is like a blood test in Chinese medicine and can present with any or some of the 28 different qualities that the Chinese described could be possible. Each quality tells us something different about your particular situation.
Should I expect immediate results?
Often people experience beginning changes in the first session, but sometimes the body requires more input to realize a difference in status depending on the severity and chronicity of the problem. It is most often the case, though, that our patients leave our office feeling much better than when they entered.
There are also many techniques we use at the end of the session to augment results and to provide carryover of improvement between sessions.
